Test Cell Technician

Although this is a 2nd shift position, training will be done on 1st shift (7:00 am to 3:30 pm) for approximately 3 months. Shift premium will not apply until technician begins work on 2nd shift.
The APU Specialist Technician is fully functional in most shop processes. At this grade level, job knowledge is expected to be comprehensive across various product lines. Candidate must understand the purpose and scope of each process area, including disassembly, non-destructive testing, machining, inspection, measurement, test, paint, and reassembly. He/she must be familiar with and follow FAA requirements related to inspection and repair. In addition, he/she must be able to read and interpret OEM repair manual instructions. An aptitude for detailed mechanical work and methodical trouble-shooting is essential. The ability to work independently, a thorough working knowledge of each process and at least 3 year's experience are necessary to qualify for this position. The technician is expected to obtain familiarly with all aircraft makes and models routinely service by Piedmont Aviation Component Services. Candidate must have the ability to provide instruction in processes, start to finish. Masters troubleshooting and assists in APU and aircraft-related issues. Trains as requested. Learns to configure new series engines to test cell. Able to test troublesome LRU's on bench. Ability to travel on short notice is required.

Requirements: High School Diploma. Repair experience and/or equivalent mechanical experience. Technical Degree in Aerospace advantageous. Ability to interpret and follow repair instructions from OEM manuals. Understanding of FAA regulations. An aptitude for detailed mechanical work and methodical trouble-shooting is essential. Ability to perform repairs and a full understanding of aircraft APU function. Writing skills and accuracy are required for documentation. Ability to safely and properly operate Shop equipment and precise measuring equipment. Basic computer skills require and you will be required to learn Quantum for data entry. Aviation experience is a plus. In compliance with FAA regulations, Piedmont Aviation Component Services is a Drug-free Workplace and safety sensitive employees are required to be randomly tested. As necessary, overtime is required.
